THE MONKEY AND THE CRAB
One day, a monkey found a persimmon stone and a crab found a rice cake. The monkey, who wanted to eat the rice cake, said to the crab. "You can eat the rice cake only once! But the persimmon stone you can plant. It will then grow into a big tree and you will have many delicious persimmons to eat!"
So the crab gave the monkey the rice cake and took the persimmon stone and planted it. Every day tha crab watered the tsone and soon a small seedling appeared. It kept growing until it was a big tree and had a lot off fruit. The crab then began to climb the persimmon tree to get some of the fruit, but the monkey followed her and threw the crab down. Then the monkey climbed up the tree and ate the persimmon fruit him self. The crab tried to stop the monkey who hit her with a big persimmon and then ran away.

An old man and his wife lived alone near a river. they din't have any children and had to look after themselves. One day, when the old man went to the mountain to get fire-wood, his wife went to the river to wash some clothes. While she was doing the washing, she saw a large peach coming down the river towards her. She stretched out her hand and caught the peach as it floated past.
"It will be something different for my husband to have for his supper," she thought to herself.
But when the old man opened the peach in the evening, he saw a tiny boy inside it. When they had got over their surprise, the old couple were very happy to have a child. They named him Peach Boy.  They loved him and looked after him well, and soon Peach Boy was tall and strong.

Once there lived an old woodcutter who went every day to the forest to cut trees. One day, after he had cut a lot of wood, he felt hungry. "Oh, I'm tired and hungry," he said as he sat down on a tree stump and opened his lunch box.
As he was taking his first bite, he saw a hare sitting on the grass in front of him. The hare just sat and started at him. "Oh, do you also want something to eat?" asked the old man. He threw the bread which he held in his  hand to the hare.
At once, the hare rolled the bread into a hole and quickly jumped after it. After a while the old man heard a lovely voice singing in the hole, "A pieces of bread, kororin, suttonton."

Once a Fox and an otter lived near each in the Ohara. One evening, the Fox visited the home of the Otter which was in the grass near the river. "Please come in and eat with me, " said the kind otter. The Fox ate six big carp, eight eels, and other fish as well. Altogether  , he ate thirty seven fish. Because he was in such a good mood when he left, he invited the Otter to visit him in his house the next day.
When the Otter arrived at his house in the forest, the fox did not speak, he only sat and tarted at the sky. "Mr.Fox what has happened? Are you all right?" asked the Otter. But the Fox did not say anything and the Otter went home.

Di pinggir hutan dilereng gunung, tinggalah Hastika. Ia sebatang kara, tetapi tidak pernah kesepian. Banyak binatang, dan bunga-bunga menemaninya. Suatu ketika, putri Sania singgah ke gubugnya. "Oh indah sekali bunga-bunga disini!" seru putri kagum. 
"Hai pemuda, bolehkah aku meminta bunga-bungamu utuk pesta diistanaku?"
Silahkan tuan puteri?" dengan senang hati hamba haturkan jawab Hastika. Hastika gembira sekali, bunga-bunganya disenangi Putri Sania. Tiba-tiba terdengan suara burung bayan,"tolong-tolong!..." Tep..... cras!! anak panah melesat. Tangan Hastika terluka, tetapi anak Bayan itu selamat. Dan tidak hanya itu,....cras! cras! cras! Pedang pemburu itu berkibat lagi.

THE HERON, THE FISHES AND THE CRAB


Far away in the mountains, there was a small, quiet lake. The fish which lived  in the lake were very happy until a heron came to live nearby. Which his long beak, he caught some of the fish every day and ate them. As soon as a fish swam too close to the surface of the water, the heron caught it.
But time passed, and the heron become old and too slow to catch many of the fish. So he thought of a trick.
"What a pity, my beautiful fish, that you don't know of the danger that is so near," he said loudly.
"What danger is there -  except your sharp beak?" asked the fish from a safe distance. 
"That is not true," said the heron as he smiled to himself. "Today I heard the villagers say they were going to empty this hake and take all the fish out."
When they heard,  this the fish were very frightened. "We will all die. This is the end of the world."

Do you know why mountains are made of stone?
          At the beginning  of the world, a man named Ekon lived in Luzon. He like to build thing. He thought it would be an excellent idea to build a bridge to the sky.
         As he wanted the bridge to be strong and last a long time, he built it of stone. he worked for years and years building the bridge. His wife and children, nephews and nieces, uncles and aunts, all helped him. Although they worked very hard, the sky always seemed to be along distance away. When Ekon become and old man, his wife and children  told him that he would never finish it.
